“ Yes yes yes. I finally was able to sit down and eat here while I was in town and it’s 10/10. I came on a Sunday when they had meatloaf and mashed potatoes, but of course I had to get some sides to try. My favorites were the smothered green beans and potatoes and pickle cheese (enough to where I’d get those every time I come in if they’re on the menu). Also, those wings omg. They’re habanero pineapple white BBQ wings, but don’t be scared - they’re not overly spicy. I’d say they’re more smoky than spicy. So good. The smothered okra and pot roast were also flavorful and delicious. The restaurant itself has a very retro/vintage vibe that I think goes really well with the homemade cooking, and the service is very good. I was able to bring my favoritest boy (my dog Cashew) onto the back patio where we enjoyed a late lunch. I’ll be back! ”

“ If you grew up in a state with a lot of meat and three or cafeteria-style restaurants like I did, make the trip to Hot Stuff. It’s like if all the grannies who ran those roadside places got a little extra culinary school training. Everything’s awesome, but the pickle cheese, smothered cabbage and greens should not be skipped any day they’re on the menu. ”

“ This modern cafeteria is generally a go-to every time I’m in town. If I were Uptown, it would be a daily visit, yet I still think it’s a worthy trek from several neighborhoods away. It’s not that cafeteria experience you grew up with; it’s much more delicious and interesting. The setup isn’t very user friendly, with the names of the daily items listed on the opposite wall from the food, so you may find yourself trying to memorize them before getting in line. Likewise, the prices are listed on that same wall near the entrance. I don’t think they realize how inconvenient that is rather than having all the info on the side of the room that people actually face to order. Yes, as the name suggests, they have some spicy items. Ask if you aren’t sure. The item names themselves don’t generally disclose the heat. Be sure to request a punch card if you think you’ll be back (and yeah, you will). That will earn you a dessert after five visits and a meat after ten. For some reason they don’t promote these and also don’t proactively offer them. I just happened to hear them punching one on my eighth visit and inquired. If you somehow leave hungry, well, it’s a miracle. But also, don’t do that! You’re missing out on goodness. ”

“ Hot Stuff is absolutely amazing! Eating here reminds me of when I would eat at Picadilly’s with my grandma or at the lunch plate section of my local grocery store. The food is amazing- exactly what you’d expect from a meat & 3. Rich, heavy, and delicious. The prices are fair, and the decor is also super cute! I hope this spot stays open for years to come- especially since it’s so close to the campuses! ”

“ Meat & three joint with a fun environment. Grab a tray, look at the options on the wall or along the line. You cannot go wrong. The wings are delicious... I'd call them smoky, but not didn't seem slow smoked to me. The sauce also delicious. I enjoyed all of my sides. The cucumber salad was a pleasant fun surprise that I wasn't sure what to expect based on the orange color. The green and okra hit the spot and warmed my heart. Staff were friendly and helpful. You should come. ”

“ Do yourself a favor and add Hot Stuff to your to do list while in NOLA! The food was amazing, staff and service were great as well! The owner is actually there ensuring everything runs well! I tried the perfectly fried chicken, stewed chicken, greens, smothered cabbage and Mac and Cheese! They were all phenomenal! ”
